About & expertise

Technical depth.
A wider perspective.

My work connects how batteries behave with the engineering and commercial decisions behind energy infrastructure.

Jason A. Weeks, Ph.D.

Principal Engineer
VDE Americas

I’m a Principal Engineer at VDE Americas, with a background spanning electrochemistry research, battery technology development, and technical diligence for renewable-energy projects.

I work with developers, asset owners, lenders, and investors to connect technical questions with practical decisions. That includes understanding battery performance, assessing technology risk, and considering how a storage system will evolve throughout its life.

My foundation is in the laboratory. I earned my Ph.D. in Analytical Chemistry at The University of Texas at Austin, researching battery electrodes and electrochemical interfaces. I’ve since worked across technology development and project advisory, translating that research perspective into the questions facing energy storage in practice.

I also write Weeks of Storage and participate in talks, webinars, and industry discussions.
